Tulamben is located on the far NE Eastern coast of Bali along the foothill of the towering Gunung Agung. It is the highest mountain in Bali and worship by the Balinese as the holy mountain.

The village of Tulamben is a 3 hour drive from the airport in Denpasar. The road to Tulamben pass through some scenic pastoral scene, a pleasant drive through the country side.

This far Eastern region of Bali is less touristic and developed than the more popular touristic places on the island. The atmosphere is calmer and quiet than the frenetic pace of Kuta or Ubud.
